12” (305mm) Round Cake Board
2.5kg White Sugarpaste

JEM Floral Applique - Jacobean Style Cutter Set (106M015)
PME Butterfly Cutter (BU491)
PME Concentrated Paste colours - Sunny Yellow, Lime Crush, Hot Pink & Misty Mauve
PME Large Sugar Pearls
PME Pearlised Oyster Pearls (PSO947)
PME Ink Pads
PME Piping Gel (PG210)

Preparation:
Sandwich your cakes together to create four double height cakes and neatly ice with white sugarpaste. Stack the cakes together and place on the cake board.

Instructions:

1 - Using the five petal, butterfly and leaves cutters from the Floral Applique set emboss a random design onto all four tiers of the cake whilst the sugarpaste is still soft.
2 - You want to create depth to the design, so using the Lime Green and Yellow Brush n Fine pens colour in the small leaves blending the colours and creating shading.
3 - For the butterflies you want to use the orange Brush n Fine pen to colour in the whole section then take the brown pen to darken the tips of the wings.
4 - For added detail to the wings take your scriber tool and gently scratch in the veins of the butterfly.
5 - For the larger leaves use the paste colours, first with the yellow and then the green to add detail and shading.
6 - The large flowers are painted using layers of different pink shades. To begin with mix a small quantity of the Mix n Paint powder with the Hot Pink to create a pale pink. Paint on the first layer to each of the petals on all the tiers - the Mix n Paint will thicken the colour pastes and give texture to the brush strokes so make sure your brush strokes follow the curve of the petals.
7 - Deepen the pale shade by adding a touch more Hot Pink paste and use this to paint low lights to the sides of each petal.
8 - To add additional detail, depth and interest to the flowers add Misty Mauve to the pink and go over the outer edges and middles of the petals. Use the same colour for the flower centres by dabbing the Ink Pad into the colour and then onto the centre of the flower.
9 - Take the Brown Brush n Fine Pen and paint the stems of the flowers curving and shaping to link the flowers, butterflies and leaves together.

10 - To finish off the cake add a pearl trim to each tier with the large pearls and the flower centres with the smaller pearls. Secure the pearls in place using a little piping gel.
