Dry brush the powder, or mix it with a little clear alcohol like vodka and use as an edible paint. If colouring icing, sprinkle a small amount into the icing and blend with a spatula. Give the colour a few minutes to develop and darken. Sprinkle and mix in a little bit more powder colouring if desired colour has not been achieved. Remember that powder colours are highly pigmented, so use sparingly. Work with natural light to get the most accurate colour. Powder colourings work best for colouring food mixtures which are sensitive to water.
