How to Make an Edible Building Bricks Cake

All the fun of the well known children's building brick range but without the dreaded clean up! This colourful cake is perfect for children of any age and is so incredibly simple to create. Thanks to the PME Classic Dot Impression Mat you'll be whipping these little edible decorations up in a matter of minutes!

For this cake you will need:
178mm (7”) square cake
254mm (10”) square cake card
1.5kg White Sugarpaste
(depending upon the number of bricks)
PME Concentrated Paste colours
Sunny Yellow, Berry Red, Ocean Blue, Lime Crush,
Pea Green & Tiger Lily Orange
PME Edible Glaze Spray (EG700)
PME Sprayer (SG1003) optional
PME Sugarpaste Spacers (MS99)
PME Classic Dot Impression Mat (IM194
PME Straight Edge Smoother (ES75)

Preparation:
Bake a 7" cake and cover with white sugarpaste based on a 10" cake card. Using the concentrated paste colours create the required colours for the brick decorations.

Instructions:

1 - Arrange the spacers to your required depth and roll out the sugarpaste.
2 - Take the impression mat and place diagonally across the paste. Using the cake smoother firmly press the matt into the sugarpaste to create the texture.
3 - Use a knife to cut the bricks into different sizes to create a variety for your cake decoration.
4 - Lay the bricks onto a paper towel and spray lightly with the edible glaze. Set to one side and allow to dry. A second coat of edible glaze can be added for an extra coat of shine if required.
5 - Arrange the bricks randomly around the base of your case and then create groups of bricks on the top.
