How to Dust a Sugar Rose

Being able to create stunning sugar flowers is one of the most popular skills within sugarcraft, however it isn't just about the modelling. Knowing how to colour these flowers correctly can really enhance any sugar flower and give it that life-like appearance. Follow our tips below and you'll be creating stunning sugar flower sprays in no time!

For this example we will be using a sugar rose.

Handy Tip: If you are short on time or just practicing we suggest using the pre-made Culpitt edible soft roses.

 How to Dust a Rose:
1 - Take a medium soft brush and take a light shade of colour dust and gently brush over the entire sugar rose.

For this tutorial you will need:
Sugar roses
Selection of Culpitt Edible Colour Splash Dusts
Soft bristle brushes in various sizes

2 - To add detail take a smaller soft brush and a slightly darker shade of colour dust. Go round the outsides of all the petals, starting off with a light dusting and building up the colour as you reach the edges.

Apply this method to all your sugar flowers and see them come to life!
